Christie’s is delighted to be hosting Energy Lines, an exhibition of new works by contemporary French artist Fabienne Verdier in collaboration with Custot Gallery Dubai. In celebration of Christie’s long-term friendship with Custot Gallery Dubai, this new body of work will be revealed on 9 February 2023 at Christie’s, DIFC. Custot Gallery Dubai and Christie’s share a passion for contemporary art and championing of artists and through this exhibition we share our combined commitment to the region through ongoing multi-faceted programming.
When discussing this exhibition with Stéphane Custot, an important element was Fabienne Verdier’s commitment and appreciation to explore the Middle East through this new body of works. Painted with sweeps of bold colour and gestures, a fissure of energy across canvas, the works command attention; drawing inspiration from the natural world: mountains, clouds, dunes, and the ocean, they create a sense of the celestial.
The culmination of Energy Lines aligns with a growing appetite for contemporary international art in the region, as Christie’s seeks new and developing trends in both our private sales exhibitions and auctions. Through collaborations such as this, we are able to highlight artists’ stories from around the world, presenting a studio’s eye view – in this case coming from Verdier’s beautiful France-based studio.
We are thrilled to open this solo exhibition with monumental new works by Verdier, in the presence of Fabienne Verdier. Christie’s and Custot Gallery Dubai look forward to welcoming you to Christie’s Middle East and to the exhibition.
